Yoga Exercises to Grow Taller

How does certain bird songs from nature affects us?

The Yoga mind like water question “Where is your attention now?” is the basis of an enlightening (and possibly even transforming) experiment you can do right now to grow taller. Take a piece of paper and a pencil and for two minutes list the objects of your attention. Write down a word or phrase designating each new object to which the beam of your attention shifts. You may be going through massive amounts of though traffic sounds from noisy vehicules, events and people working and making things happen around you. It may be natural and resourceful to apply it sometimes. You can regain lost strength and energy by communicating peacefully with your environment.

Each day you may believe you will finally be breathing from inner peace but, you just seem to hit the wall?

Now that you’ve done the yoga exercise, you are doubtless convinced that your mind, when undirected, does indeed jump about on its own fairly continuously. You also might notice a subtle sharpening of attention, a calmer attitude than before you did the experiment. If so, you might deduce that when the mind is focused on only one thing at a time, it is more alive, more relaxed and focused. If even that small practice of “attention-tracking” produces these effects, consider the awesome, laserlike mental power you could bring to bear on any issue or problem if your attention were normally under your conscious control!

Concentration, as defined by the Yoga sage Paramahansa Yogananda, is “that power which one can apply negatively to free the attention from objects of distraction, and positively to place the attention on a single idea or object at a time.” All truly effective people have trained themselves to concentrate, to direct their thoughts or efforts on growing taller. The fact that their minds are not bothered by distractions gives to the searchlight of their attention the power of a laser beam.

The light analogy is an apt one. The undisciplined mind is like a lightbulb; it diffuses light in every direction. Its attention is low-grade with regard to any one of its objects, as it is spread all over the place. The laser-beam mind, on the other hand, is one-pointed. Gathering all its energy into one direction, it can burn quickly and efficiently through a mind like water problem.

In an information age, management of the attention searchlight is crucial for success in any endeavor. There’s so much out there, there’s no hope of responding to it all. You must decide ahead of time what your values are and what business you’re in, then manage your attention to focus on those things and ignore all the rest.

The ancient Indian seer Patanjali first established the foundations of the science of yoga to grow taller. The purpose of this science, he wrote, is “to neutralize the transformations of the thinking principle.” These transformations are the things that distract us from growing taller.

Certain noises, movements, odors, pains and other sensations, restless desires, fluctuations of emotions, moods, random thoughts, memories, etc. The person of concentration has learned to do away with distractions by consciously withdrawing attention from them. A scientific technique of freeing one’s attention from the objects of distraction (both inner and outer) is the only way to get real results.

This may sound simple, but it’s useful to break it down. There are two aspects to developing concentration. The first is the ability to withdraw attention completely from distracting elements. The second is to place it on the object of choice and keep it there. The negative side of the technique involves two steps: acknowledging the distracting item your attention is aimed at, and consciously removing it.

The positive aspect also consists of two separate functions: placing your freed attention on your intended object, and keeping it there until you choose to remove it. It may sound complex, but mind like water yoga techniques can improve your quality of life and determine the size you will grow taller to. Less practical options shouldn't be considered.

I have been practicing Yoga for several years and also do a lot stretching. I also did a few years of Pilates (no more), and I must say I did grow about a half an inch! Not bad for someone at an age when I should be shrinking! I have to focus more on the whole "taller" aspect..maybe in meditation as I sure would like to (at least) keep my height!
